ABOUT AMERICATALYST 2011 Now in its tenth year, AmeriCatalyst is an invitation-only, collaborative, peer-to-peer think tank with a multi-disciplinary approach, bringing together 300 senior executives, regulators, investors, and academics.
Differentiated by its quality, content and caliber, the event continues a series of discussions that began in 2002 about the impact of globalization on the housing finance industry, and its implications across the mortgage lending and investment lifecycle.
The event is politically neutral, focusing on the commercial realities and facts of the markets.
Our theme this year is “Convergence: the globalization of housing finance, 10 year on.” This theme reflects the current stage of total interconnectedness and interdependence in a globalized world.

HISTORY AmeriCatalyst 2011 is the North American continuation of the landmark EuroCatalyst series that began in Madrid, Spain, in 2002. Deliberately coinciding with the launch of the euro in 2002, the event focused on the harmonization of 27 European mortgage markets as the greatest obstacle to creating a single market for European financial services. As such, its content provided a comparative analysis of the products, processes, and practices across Europe, effectively showing the extent to which those national housing finance systems were wed to the sociopolitical and economic structure of each nation, and thus vulnerable to the global commoditization of underlying mortgage products.
As a market positioning firm led by partners with more than 20 years of experience in global capital and mortgage markets, EuroCatalyst, the company, created the eponymous event to reposition the entire global housing finance industry by discussing market developments in the wider context of globalization. From 2002 to 2007 the purpose of the event was to illustrate the unique importance of global (as opposed to local or national) mortgage markets and their role as the foundation of the global economy, and warn about how the globalization of housing finance could lead to a rupture in the global economic faultline.
In 2009, EuroCatalyst moved its annual discussion to the United States as “Distressed Servicing 2009.” Its compelling dialogue and high caliber speakers and participants, combined with the event’s creative, entertaining and interactive atmosphere generated enthusiastic feedback from participants, many of whom hailed it as the best event they have ever attended. A primer about our 2009 program, written by EuroCatalyst and AmeriCatalyst founder and CEO Toni Moss, is available here.
In 2010 AmeriCatalyst LLC was established in Austin, Texas, and continues the original EuroCatalyst dialogue in the United States. The AmeriCatalyst 2010 program, along with a video of one of last year’s most popular sessions, an interview with Kyle Bass, can be viewed here.
