Matt Vernon

Matt is the Home Loans Sales Executive for Bank of America Home Loans, a mortgage company with a $1 trillion servicing portfolio of more than seven million home loans. He leads the sales operations for all consumer mortgage lending channels, including Retail, Centralized, and Banking Center Sales, as well as Neighborhood Lending. He oversees a team of more than 4,000 mortgage loan professionals offering products through more than 600 retail home loan locations, more than 5,600 banking centers and five call centers. Matt is responsible for developing, managing and coordinating multiple initiatives and programs that support overall business growth strategies. Among his responsibilities are strategic planning and reporting, business continuity planning, customer and associate delight initiatives and performance management. He most recently led the Retail Sales organization, which consists of a national network of mortgage sales originators who assist customers in achieving sustainable homeownership, through mortgage loans and refinancing. Matt also served as the Short Sale and Real Estate Owned (REO) Executive, responsible for all aspects of the REO and short sale business, developing and implementing new initiatives to manage and streamline the company's short sale and REO processes. He was responsible for a national operations team that manages the risks related to the business while providing foreclosure prevention solutions for distressed homeowners. Prior to this role, Matt led the bank's Consumer Real Estate retail sales channel, comprised of 150 sales offices and a team of 3,400 associates distributed across the Bank of America franchise, more than 2,000 of whom are mortgage loan officers. Earlier, Matt served as Consumer Sales Process and Management Executive in the Consumer Real Estate organization, primarily supporting the retail sales channel and leading the national internal support team for the business. Matt joined Bank of America as a Management Associate in 1994 in the Baltimore consumer bank where he worked as a Banking Center Manager and then advanced to subsequent broader leadership responsibilities in multiple markets culminating in his appointment as the Division Sales Executive for the Mid-Atlantic Consumer Bank responsible for Consumer Sales activities across 479 banking centers and 5,600 associates in 5 Mid-Atlantic states. He also played a national role in the development of the National Sales Playbook, Selling the Bank of America Way, and the Daily Coaching Huddle. Matt is a graduate of High Point University in North Carolina with a BA in Business Management and Administration. He resides in Calabasas, California with his wife and two sons.
