Ed Delgado

Ed is the current President and CEO of the Five Star Institute, a leading mortgage banking association providing education and strategic services to the US mortgage market. He is the former Chief Operating Officer of Wingspan Portfolio Advisors, an award-winning, diversified mortgage servicing company.

Formerly SVP of Wells Fargo and executive at Freddie Mac, Ed has more than 20 years of experience in mortgage banking and is recognized as a thought leader and innovator throughout the industry. In his role as Five Star CEO, Ed has hosted discussions with global leaders including former President George W. Bush, New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, and U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

While SVP of government and industry relations at Wells Fargo, Ed played an integral role within the company's mortgage servicing group and served as a leader in the mortgage community, government agencies and industry trade groups in Washington, D.C. Ed was a key representative to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and in conjunction with industry leaders, was supportive of the Obama and Bush administration's efforts to develop mortgage solutions designed to prevent home foreclosures in the U.S. He has also spoken before the Federal Reserve Bank and the President's Economic Recovery Advisory Board (PERAB) on matters related to housing.

Ed's experience includes serving as a member of the Housing Policy Council of the Financial Services Roundtable. He previously chaired several subcommittees for the HOPE NOW Alliance, a public and private sector partnership focused on assisting at-risk mortgage consumers. He was elected chairman of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency Advisory Council, an independent working group supporting federally chartered banking institutions. Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Ed served as an executive at Freddie Mac in various leadership roles including loss mitigation, structured risk transactions, investor reporting, and portfolio analysis. He currently holds a seat on the National Advisory Council on consumer credit and is ex-officio of Legal League 100 and its committees.
