Shirley is a founding partner and the director of all events, media, information services and research for EuroCatalyst BV. She is the creative force behind all EuroCatalyst events, and, as a senior adviser for AmeriCatalyst LLC, oversees the design and production of all advertising, branding, and staging of special AmeriCatalyst activities around the world.
Prior to joining EuroCatalyst in 2002, Shirley was the deputy managing editor for The Japan Times, the largest and oldest English-language newspaper for the political and financial community in Japan. Throughout her 20+ year tenure at The Japan Times, Shirley held a number of key positions at the newspaper, including head of the finance, business and politics news and copy desks during rise and fall of the “bubble economy” of the late 1980s, managing a team of 100 editors and reporters.
Shirley studied Middle Eastern politics at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in International Relations and Economics. She earned a Master’s degree in Political Science from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.
A professionally trained musician, Shirley is also an accomplished graphic designer and works with several renowned musicians to create website and poster art. After two decades in Asia, and 10 years in Europe, she is happy to be on the North American continent and spends part of the year in her hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia.
